Transfer holds
I work at a small rural hospital that currently uses NEDOCS in our ER. We do not keep most of our patients for admission to our facility. We transfer the majority of patients out to other hospitals for admission. They can be boarding for significant periods of time tying up or staff. These patients are not counted as ADM HOLDS because they are not being admitted to our facility. I believe that they should be counted, and would like to have someone reach out to me for further discussion about this.

>> The bed time values will increase in NEDOCS if your ED gets backed up with holds to outside facilities. This will quickly inflate the score because your staff will be tied up to take care of these patients instead of patients showing up at the door. And those values will also go up as patients are not leaving the facility. So even though they are not counted as holds, they are still counted in the general ED census.
